I am using moodle 1.8.5+. How can I  incorporate Announcement in moodle like  it is available on this site such as secure Announcement, Moodle buzz, Planet Moodle, Google News. Where each of its entries(latest) have a brief description displayed on page.

Use the block RSS feed.
Add all the url of the feed sites and you may have as much feed as you need in each page.

In moodle, feed sites could be a forum, database and what else? How RSS feed can be activated for forum or database. Do you mean, the url of feed site  is the address of forum or database? please clarify.

I apologize.

For instance: secure Announcement

Go To: http://moodle.org/mod/forum/view.php?id=7128
Click on the icon: RSS
You get the page: http://moodle.org/rss/file.php/1/76222/forum/996/rss.xml
Copy the address.

Go to your moodle and create a RSS feed block.
As soon as you create it you will be requested to edit it.
Click on the link in the body of the block.
Paste the copied (the one finishing in .xml) link in the field: "Add a news feed URL:"
Write a custom title if you like in the field: "Custom title (leave blank to use title supplied by feed):"

Return to "Configure this block"
Select the just added feed with a click in the check box by the RSS title.
Push "Save changes".

It should work.

If you are feeding an RSS, I mean: if your site is the source of informations, this page is for you. http://docs.moodle.org/en/RSS_in_forums

thank you sir,

Ya I could do it.

but still I want to know about Moodle Buzz announcement. Which activity has been  used to create it. I think it is not 'database' because its format is different. I am copying &  pasting moodle buzz and my community buzz RSS feed output below.

Title: The pioneer and innovator of eLearning in India, GurukulOnline Learning Solutions™ (GOLS).

Ciao K. James.
I am sure they used "database" module. It has exactly the database format. Once you add your own field, you are free to add a "View list" template, a "View single" template, a "Search" template and an "Add entry" template.
This is why I am sure they used the "database" module.

About you "copy and paste" activity... my suggestion is to forget it in favour of the RSS feed. The XML path to use, in this case, is, as explained before: http://moodle.org/rss/file.php/1/153/data/19/rss.xml

About your need to displays only the title detail in the RSS I believe you can get it by setting the "Display each link's description?" to "No"

Ciao.
