problems when hyperlinking

problems when hyperlinking

I've just installed Window's new Service Pack 2. Consequently, I am now experiencing some difficulities with the popup box for adding hyperlinks when using Internet Explorer 6.  The javascript dialogue box is cut off at the bottom which disallows pressing the OK button:

IE javascript

Conversely, it works fine in Netscape as the image below shows; however, not all of my instructors use Netscape:

Netscape Javascript

I wonder if I can increase the size of the hyperlink popup box for IE so that it displays the OK button. Does anyone have suggestions? angry

For me it looks like this on IE under Windows XP SP2, using the latest 1.4 version of Moodle.  I'm guessing you are using an older version of Moodle ... just upgrade to 1.4 on Monday.

Hi David!

How were you able to embed the images into your message??

RE: How were you able to embed the images into your message??

  1. I took screen shots of the dialogue boxes, using Alt-Print Screen.
  2. I uploaded the images to my Website.
  3. I then linked to the images using the
    ed_image.gif button.

Hi David.

I asked the question because I was trying to find out if you found some way to import and position images in a forum post without having to have to link from somewhere else.

Thanks for your response.

On my own site, I have DMS installed. All of my learners are able to upload images to their web space in the DMS and link to these in forum posts...works like a charm!

Hi David,

I am trying to find a way to have students access and manage their DMS storage space directly  from within their Courses.  Also, trying to combine it with Williams "BookMark Note" script so students will be able to maintain bookmarks and site notes as well and save them to their DMS space.

I managed this by including a link to the dms as a Resource within the course. For example you can create it as a Web Link or Web Page Resource: http://yoursite/moodle/dms

Martin, can we start a new forum for people planning to upgrade to XP SP2. This hairball is going to be problematic, as many things in the firewall are default to on, and there are known problems with about 50 applications (including many of Microsoft's). We should have a central place to quickly find solutions as people report their problems.

Great idea Bryan , noticed this when testing a resource for a student download you have to click then allow the download , could be confusing ?thoughtful

I don't think there's anything in XP2 that affects Moodle use ...

After upgrading to Moodle 1.4 yesterday, the hyperlinking problem was resolved. Thank-you for your help.

Moodle 1.4 looks just great! approve
