I've got the map module working ok (in Moodle 1.9.2+),
but map appearance is most often SLOW ....
(minutes). It eventually pops up, but can take nearly forever.
On occasion (not commonly tho), it's up in seconds -
anyone else experiencing this?
I get no loading message,
but the status bar reads
read maps.google.com
changing to
waiting for www.google.com
but hanging for a long long time on both of these.

I haven't heard of this problem.
Which browser are you using?
I googled and found some issues with IE if you have tons of markers on the map.
Can you try it in IE and Firefox? Might help me find out what the problem is.
Do you have a lot locations on the map? Are they student or other locations(that show as green markers)?
If it is not slow if there are only student locations are on the map I might have an idea what it is.
