This is a proposed improvement. The idea is that the two 'without author' modes should prevent students finding out who authors were, by hiding the 'browse by author' tab. The tab would remain available for teachers.

I filed this as tracker issue MDL-16998 - if you've got an opinion about it (if you think it would be an improvement, or especially if you think NO! THAT WILL COMPLETELY BREAK OUR ENTIRE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM AND SEND THE WORLD PLUNGING INTO ANARCHY!!!!!*) then please comment here or on the tracker issue. Just want to see if there is a consensus in favour of it.

* Or some more moderate opinion against the change.

I agree that "without author" should not show the "Browse by Author tab". We were just thinking about how to stop this.

We want to preserve the privacy of students by not showing their name, and being able to Browse by Author defeats that purpose.
