Did anyone hear about CMIS? (http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/CMIS)
I'm tracking Moodle from an Alfresco angle but interested in a plugin to Moodle that supports CMIS.
Any thoughts?
Hi Rob
Dongsheng at Moodle HQ has implemented an alfresco plugin for the Moodle repository API coming in Moodle 2.0. That uses the proprietary PHP Client for Alfresco but this is the obvious place to add in a generic CMIS plugin.
CMIS is pretty new, and Alfresco has released an early implementation in their latest "labs" version 3b. Its a content management protocol with REST and SOAP bindings, so in theory it will be quite feasible to implement a client in PHP...
...Alternatively just wait for Alfresco to do it ;)
cheers

Hi Mike,
Yeh, just playing with Dongsheng's plugin now.
Well, I figured it'd be something you guys would be tracking. It'd be pretty big for Moodle to be able to use a generic Content Management System as a repository. Obviously CMIS is pretty new and it remains to be seen how "good" a standard it will be. The workflow and search capability of something like Alfresco would offer huge value to Moodle.
To be honest, I don't think it'll be at the top of their priorities ;)
Cheers
