Next week, several hundred people from the UK and around the world are getting together to talk, listen and have fun whilst learning about learning technology and the Digital Divide at the ALT-C conference.
The keynote speakers are
David Cavallo, Chief Learning Architect for One Laptop per Child, and Head of the Future of Learning Research Group at MIT Media Lab; Dr Itiel Dror, Senior Lecturer in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Southampton; and Hans Rosling, Professor of International Health, Karolinska Institute, Sweden, and Director of the Gapminder Foundation.
You can watch the keynotes in real time, see web site for details http://www.alt.ac.uk/altc2008/

With Helen Keegan, Josie Fraser and Cristina da Costa I am running a workshop called Learning about the Digital Divide, based a successful one we ran last year. The difference this year is that we are inviting people who can't be at the conference to join in.
If you have a 1-3 minute message or performance (we call it a slam) about the Digital Divide that you can record in digital media, then do join us. Details (including samples and resources) are at our wiki http://digdivslam.wetpaint.com/.
The deadline is midnight GMT Wednesday 10 September, and voting will start the next day.
We want to have a bit of serious fun - why not join us?

I'm back from the conference now - tired but happy!
Keynotes were great - particularly Hans Rosling who climbed a step ladder for part of his talk - check out previous videos at http://www.gapminder.org

If you are interested in viewing and voting on the slams our workshop participants produced, you can check them out at http://digdivslam.wetpaint.com/page/View+Slams+and+vote+for+your+favourite
