RSS feeds: RSS error

Rss feeds from forums and databases cease to exist. it has worked fine, but stopped to generate feeds in the middle of last week. As we used version 1.9.1. now I have updated to 1.9.2 +, but the bug is still there.

The installation runs on apache server with PHP 5.2.3:

PHP Version 5.2.3

System Windows NT INTRANET-SERVER 5.2 build 3790
Build Date May 31 2007 09:36:39
Configure Command cscript /nologo configure.js "--enable-snapshot-build" "--with-gd=shared"
Server API Apache 2.0 Handler
Virtual Directory Support enabled
Configuration File (php.ini) Path C:\WINDOWS

Cron job running fine and sent mail to subscribers.

Where do I look?
I hope there is someone who has a proposal for the solution of this problem.

Sincerely, Per

I am having the same problem . . . cannot get RSS feeds to work with forums. I receive an Error message when clicking the RSS icon. I have enabled all of the feed requirements in the administrative end and even disabled global search, but still receive ERROR message. I would really like the feeds to work, especially as I understand when attaching audio files, they are also feed enabled. Any other ideas/comments?

Barbara

Hi Per,

Well, I kept trying out different things and figured it out. I disabled the Global search, as you suggested, but still couldn't get the forum feeds to work.

Then, I manually ran a cron (for those who are reading this who don't know what I'm talking about, to run a cron manually in Moodle, just add /admin/cron.php to your Moodle front page and all indexes are updated.)

After I ran cron, I still received the error message. Finally, I figured out that my browser was probably pulling data from the cache (I use Firefox), so cleared my cache (again, for neophytes, to do this just select Tools from your Firefox menu, then Clear Private Data, and make sure cache is selected. Then click button, Clear Private Data Now.)

After I did this, the RSS feeds for the forums worked perfectly. Hope this helps someone else in the same predicament. Remember to CLEAR YOUR CACHE when making changes.

Thanks!

I was having the same problem and then enabled the "global search" which seems to have fixed it??? Not sure really what difference global search makes and why it fixed this problem but would like to know?

Cheers Dave
