I am trying to embed a video into a resource but instead of showing the video when I save the changes it just shows the embed html and doesn't actually embed the video. Example, taking the embed tag generated from YouTube and pasting it into the summary box simply gives the whole <object width="425" height="349"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com...." jargon when I save and try to view... Please advise?

There are various ways to do this but first of all - are you copying and pasting into code view and not just pasting into the html editor direct?
Wow, long week, stupid mistake. I was pasting directly into WYSIWYG without using the HTML Source... Thank you for quick and easy answer!!
