Using Moodle for an on-line commercial site

Using Moodle for an on-line commercial site

I have a web prospect who wants to sell on-line training courses and I came across Moodle recently and have the following questions:

1) Can a course be accessed only after a user has paid to access it? In other words, it would be available through a password on a subscription basis only.

2) Can a course be available for a limited time period?  What I'm looking for is putting a three week limit on a course once the participant has initially logged in.

Thank you in advance, this looks like a terrific piece of software.

Mark

Doing these automatically is planned sometime in the future, but for now you have to manage this separately (and probably manually).

you don't have any objections against commercial-sites made with moodle ? are you planning to ask license fees for commercial sites ?

I have no objections at all, in fact I encourage it. And no, there will never be license fees.

However, if Moodle is making money for you then perhaps I can suggest donating something back to the project:

Not only does it help good will all round but it helps Moodle develop faster (since donations prevent me having to work on other things to make a living).

hi,Martin,

A friend and I are running an e-learning software service company and would like to use moodle. We are wondering what terms you will demand for the following logo arrangements on our websites.

1. Putting our company's logo, replacing yours.
2. Putting our company's logo along side with yours.

With respect,

Hi,

The answers to this are in the message you've replying to - there are no demands from me and my license gives you the right to replace the logo with your own, without payment.

However I will not support any installations that don't carry the Moodle name on it.

If you want support of any kind, I suggest taking up one of the commercial support plans, available soon from http://moodle.com/. Big goodwill donations to moodle.org are also welcome. 微笑

Cheers,
Martin

I'm just guessing because I haven't played with this feature, but since Moodle can validate to an LDAP server you could have the LDAP server maintain the database of who has paid, and how long their account is valid.

As for Question 1, you could require an enrolment key which you would email to the student only after they have paid their fees.

As for question 2, the only way I've seen to do this so far is to set your course as a weekly type course with a start date and then specify the number of weeks.
