Hi,
I must be missing something. As Admin in 1.9.1 there is no "No login" settings under Admin>Users>Authentication>Manage authentication and Admin>Users>No Login. The splash page says: "Auxiliary plugin that prevents user to login into system and also discards any mail sent to the user. Can be used to suspend user accounts." And it has a save button.

I can not find the Auxiliary plugin in Modules & Plugins, checked the filter area of the site admin block, Users in course and user profile. I checked security settings and other unlikely places in the site Administration block but again nothing caught my eye.

I am learning about enrolments by double checking the documentation in MoodleDocs "No login" against a Localhost 1.9+ .

Anybody help me with trying to explain this in MoodleDocs, explain it here and I will be happy to do the writing over there.

Also puzzled about the lack of "enable" buttons on the top two items in the manage authentication screen but I can wait on that.

Best Chris

Chris,

The only setting for "no login" is inside each individual user profile as an option under "Choose an authentication method". It apparently appears on the "Manage authentication" page only because all plug-ins affecting authentication automatically list there. It just happens that this one has no setting(s) appropriate for this area.

Now that you've asked the question, it occurs to me to wonder if it wouldn't hurt to place an option here to choose multiple users for setting to "no login"; but then that might be more appropriate in the "Bulk User Actions" section which does not have it either.

Rusty

Hi Rusty,
Your post was big help. I turned on the Advance features button in my test Moodle and missed it the first 3 times I check thinking that might be a MoodlePlace. Wonder if I checked myself as Admin and the first one on the list 3 times.微笑

It was there when I went back to "Student Demo". Whew, both the splash screen when in Edit mode for No Login and MoodleDocs are really lacking in useful information. "Aux plugin" indeed 微笑 Probably a 1.8 or 1.9 change.

Well I will do something about MoodleDocs as I seem to be doubling checking everything that is not complicated in Enrolments and Authentications pages.

Best Chris

Chris, thanks for your "No login" question and Rusty, thanks for your answer, both of which have been added to the newly created Authentication FAQ! Please feel free to add further questions and answers. wink

Hi we are having a hard time with our moodle on powweb as last weekend it seems they updated the servers and weird things started happenning.

Among others (moodle deployment wouldnt function at all first) the hosting managed to get it going doing some relative paths \ absolute paths changes (at lest thats what they told me,...)

Well the point here is that now all users are in the NO LOGIN situation! getting the above mentioned splash when trying to get new login passwords.

How can this be triggered for all users, without me ADMIN  intervention? (I didn´t activated anything like that)

this is our site:

http://sinergiamx.com/cepatria/moodle/

How can I reverse this situation to normal for all users? as you states in bulk users actions there is no such option.

Also Icheked a few users and on authentication it shows email based authentication! so in theory it is not changed at user level (I guess)

What else could have triggered this situation?

By the way this same event is happenning on two different deployments at the same domain, and happened at the same time (today´s evenning)

http://www.sinergiamx.com/aula/

this is the other moodle performing just as the above one

I still do have access to the system with admin privileges, on both moddle deployments (from which I also got the no login splas screen but I did get the emails (I have admin rights).

our system info:

moodle 1.9.7+ (build:20100106)

PHP Version 5.2.17

on enviroment every thing ok but this following in red

php_check_register_globals this test must pass Check

Thanks for your help.

PS I know it is an old deployment but that is the latest that installcentrall / or simplescripts at powweb would install a couple of years ago. Then tried to upgrade but PHP issues with other cms (joomla, etc) of legacy sites from school would deter the PHP upgrade.
