- Set up a forum on the front page as a FAQ and made sure people were referred there before asking for any other help, and
- Set up a short intro video using Camtasia which covered (1) how to access the relevant course, (2) how to update a personal profile, (3) how to access the Help FAQ, (4) how to navigate within a course and (5) how to return to the front page if lost (ie. by using the navigation bar).
That was enough to get the vast majority of users moving in the right direction.
