Roles and permissions

In the past we used "Hidden" to give them access to courses

It is not clear what you mean. How exactly did you give them access to courses? Did you assign them some role in addition to Course creator? Or did you modify Course creator? The predefined Course creator role does not have access to courses!

I would define "access to a course" as the ability to peek inside the course, which is what you get when you have moodle/course:view ("View courses") = Allow (for example, the Guest role includes this permission).

You see courses listed on your My page if you have moodle/course:view = Allow in those courses. If the role(s) that give you view permission are assigned with the Hidden flag, other users will not be able to see you (e.g., you will not be listed in People block -> Participants), but the courses will not be hidden from you -- they will still be listed on your My page! So "Hidden" doesn't affect what you see on your My page.

It would be best if you explained what you are trying to do.
