Hi, Every Expert!

I save 3 big video files in my MOODLE and blank CD!

Each student may get a CD to watch it and then go to MOODLE's Forum to do discussion. Or spend a long time to download it then do the discussion in MOODLE. 

However, I want to design a link or function in the MOODEL that can open a particular file in CD when students'(Client) network bandwidth is poor.  

How can I design this link or function?!

In the current development version (1.5) you can create links to local files. However it's still v experimental.

It's turned off by default. To enable:
Admin->Configuration->Modules->Resource Settings->Allow local files
When adding a new resource (Link to file or web site) there will now be an extra option to link to a local file. The help links should explain everything from there.

The biggest problem is security settings on browsers. Most will not let you link to a local file from a web page by default.
