Messaging: "Ignore messages" ignored

Every time I log into moodle.org I get a pop-up like in the screenshot. Clicking on "Ignore" does close the pop-up but doesn't mark all those messages as read which is what I would expect.

And those aren't "real" (private) messages but postings to forums which I'm subscribed to.
IMHO this behavior renders the whole messaging feature utterly useless.

Private messaging also doesn't seem to work as it used to in Moodle 1.9.

Looking at the related Tracker issues there still seems to be some work to do.

Cheers,
Frank

It's impossible to separate the wheat from the chaff sad

I would like to see only private messages, not notifications of forum postings.

You're lucky!! I have 81 messages that keep popping up with no way to get rid of them sad Plus, I've now had to turn off messaging altogether to avoid getting any more thus negating any (possibly useful) private messages.

I'm going to not only agree with you but suggest that messaging in 2.0 was a hell of a disappointment. I thought it was dreadful in 1.9 so it was quite an achievement to make it even worse in 2.0.
