Hi,

I would like to know how can I add an activity module to all courses or to nearly all courses.

Is it possible?.

Thanks.

Do you mean an actual activity? Like a template? Rather than an activty module which, as long as its eye is opened in site administration would be available in all courses?

When you install a new module, it's available to all courses, but I would like to know, how can I add this new module installed to all courses at the same time, not just one by one.

Thanks.

I can see the "Default allowed modules" setting at Site administration > Security > Module Security, but when I select the default allowed module, and save changes, and add a new module, only the news forum is added by default.

I think you are misunderstanding the term (or I am) Do you mean you want each course to have by default an activity or a resource, say, for example, a wiki or an assignment? There is no easy way to do that in a standard Moodle.  The news forum is the only one that is generated by default. Others you have to go into each course and create them yourself with the editing turned on and add an activity.

Yes, that's what I wanted to know. Thanks.

So if you have 80 courses you have to add an activity module one by one, that's a lot of work.

maybe you want to create a template for new courses and you just use that template evry time you create a new course?

or maybe you want to create the activity at site level (frontpage?) so all can use it, and you could even put a link to it in the header or footer of the main site theme?

Could I create a template course with this module, do a backup and restore in the new course?

Would this clone a module from the first template course to the other in Moodle 2.0?.

Thanks Tabitha.

I tried to, but in step 2 only the forum module is available for backup.

I can't find a way to add an activity module to all courses. (I don't want to add one by one)

Hello Alejandro,

If all the courses are on the same site, the quickest way is not to backup and restore but to use the "Import function". First create your template site with all the resources, activities and blocks you want to appear on all your courses. Then when you create each new course, use Import.

Cheers,

Glenys

Hi Glenys,

Thanks for your help, but when I try to do what you say, I can see import is a disable option. I'm using Moodle 2.0 Preview 4+ (Build: 20100803).

Hi Alejandro - your version of Moodle 2.0 is very old (in Moodle terms) -start of August this year. I suggest you update to the latest RC1 of Moodle 2.0 (And I think we were all assuming you were using 1.9 smile )

Hi Mary, I've updated to RC1, but when I use the import utility I can only import the news forum module.
