I'm running Moodle 1.9 on Windows Server 2008 II7 using FastCGI. The site has been running for approx. 90 days with no issues and averages about 8 new users a day. I believe our total user count is around 300 currently. In preparation for a big push in users occuring in the near future I'm running MySQL now on it's own server.
Hope this helps!

I was going to refer you to a Moodle doc page, but they all have caveats about installers like XAMPP and EasyPHP not being suitable for servers for security reasons. Most of the other advice I have seen in this forum involves IIS and/or MSSQL. So I asked my old friend Google, and he referred me to:
http://www.benh.org/techblog/2006/08/installing-apache-php-mysql-on-windows-machine/
http://www.tanguay.info/wamp/installPhp5.php5
http://blogcms.com/?item=install-apache-mysql-and-php-on-windows
http://www.builderau.com.au/program/php/soa/Install-configure-and-integrate-PHP-and-MySQL-on-Windows/0,339028448,339271632,00.htm
et al
I skipped one that recommended XAMPP and WAMP, though I'm not sure whether WAMP is more secure than XAMPP or not.
Anyway, once you get AMP installed, then you're ready to start on Moodle! See Installing Moodle.

Hi,
I am planning to install Moodle on a Windows 2008 server enterprise edition; using XAMPP.
Before i start, wanted to check if anyone has done that succefully using Windows installer.
I am new to moodle, php, mysql...
Currently, Moodle is working smooth on my windows xp machine except emails, but need to do a fresh install on Windows 2008 server.
Please share your thoughts.
Windows 2008, IIS7
PHP 5.2.8 running in ISAPI mode
MSSQL 2005 Express, accessed via the patched FreeTDS dll (see the FreeTDS pages for an explanation on the patch).
Works fine.
Ben
My only thought is that, judging by your post in your other thread (http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=117665#p516053), it looks like you, unlike BS and GM (see http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=117553), plan to use this Moodle site on Windows Server 2008 as a server. I would repeat, and emphasize, as I said in my post in October earlier in this thread, that XAMPP is not suitable for use on a server, for security reasons.
