MoodleTxt is a block that allows teachers and administrators to send SMS/text messages to their students directly from the Moodle system. It is available free of charge to all txttools.co.uk customers, and trial accounts can be provided on request. The module supports both inbound and outbound messaging, allowing teachers to text their students and receive replies without ever leaving Moodle. It also supports text message status updates, user-personalised messages, message templates and signatures, and makes use of AJAX capabilities to make administrating user access rights easier. News and development updates can be found at http://www.moodletxt.co.uk , or text "MOODLETXT" to 88020 to receive free MoodleTxt news updates on your mobile. For the more technically minded, a development blog is also available at

Latest News (2010-06-25)moodletxt 2.4 and 3.0 are now under heavy development. 2.4 will remove the old authentication system currently used in moodletxt and replace it with one based on Moodle's role system, for ease of use and greater control over access. It will also act as a stepping-stone for Moodle 2.0 and moodletxt 3.0, by bringing the block bang up to date in terms of Moodle functionality.
moodletxt 3.0 will be developed for the Moodle 2.0 platform. It will be a complete rewrite of the existing code in PHP5, with all the benefits that brings. It will be released as soon after the Moodle 2.0 release as possible. For more information on both versions and their continued development, please visit the development blog above. Beta testers are welcome.
