My school will be using Moodle for the first time starting this year. Because we are a small U.S. high school, we have no need for the City/Town or Country fields that are part of the manual enrollment form. 99.9% of our students come from Niles, MI, U.S.A. I would rather these fields be more meaningful.

I can change the lang files to alter the City/Town field but can't figure out how to change the drop-down menu that requires a person to input the country they are from. It would be ideal to be able to change this drop-down menu to a "Class of 20??" giving the student the ability to input their graduating class. That would be much more useful information for me to use.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

I'll post a pic of the fields I'm speaking of.

What I have on my installation is a front page with information and links for visitors and a login block.  When a student logs in, I have moodle redirect them to the "My Moodle" page (new in 1.6).  In order for students to get back to the main page, they either have to enter the address manually or logout.  This should be what you're looking for.  The "My Moodle" page can also be configured with "Sticky Blocks."
