Could you check your cron is running, so the PDF conversion tasks can complete? (I had this problem and that fixed it for me) There might be other reasons too, but that could be a start.

Re "Not current" you will see that if the user's enrolment date is in the future, for example, or if it ended.

Can you ensure the course start date is the same or earlier than the date the students are enrolled?

Yes - just to clarify - when you tick Search full text, the concept and/or the definition is searched. If Search full text is not ticked, then it's only the concept that is searched. Is that what you want?
