Now that Moodle LMS 4.2 is out, we made it a priority to upgrade the Mount Orange School demo site so that you can explore authentic courses and activities using the new features of the latest version.

Remembering that the site resets every hour on the hour (and that others might be using it at the same time as you), why not go into our new course:  Critical thinking as teacher Mr Sanders and explore for example:
  • the new default editor, TinyMCE, modern and accessible;
  • adding an activity anywhere on the course page;
  • bulk editing activies or sections (click 'Bulk edit' top right when edit mode is on);
  • indenting to the right;
  • enhancements to the Gradebook;
  • customising Quiz question numbers;
  • ... and more!

 Alternatively, log in as Manager Anna Alexander and explore  the new cohort custom fields and improvements to custom reports?

Hello everyone

Just a reminder that our demo sites on moodle.org/demo are running Moodle LMS 4.1 so you are welcome to try things out on there, remembering that they reset on the hour, every hour.

Our Mount Orange School demo site has some examples for you to try and adapt, as well as offering a space to test with (real but fake!) students and teachers. A few sugggestions:

  • Log in with the username manager/password moodle and explore the new custom report sources, including an example report on Badges;
  • Log in with the username teacher/password moodle and from the Activity examples course explore the Database activities and create some yourself, using the three new presets;
  • With the teacher role again, explore the new Grade summary report and Single view and User report enhancements from the Psychology in Cinema course;
  • As a manager or teacher, enable editing, click to Add an activity or resource and see if your language has a new name for one of the resources.......;
  • As any user, go to User profile > Preferences > Edit preferences and try out the new TinyMCE editor.

And finally - please spread the word about our Moodle Academy webinar What's new in Moodle 4.1 on Thursday 15th, along with a new course offering  4.1 for Admins and  4.1 for Educators badges (once I have finished writing it this week😄)

Moodle in English -> Themes -> What shall we do with the old Boost presets?

There are quite a few Boost presets on archive.moodle.net, dating from the start of Boost until a year or so ago. As I am not a themer, I am not sure how up to date or useful these presets now are.
Over the next couple of months the contents of archive.moodle.net will be moved to MoodleNet as it now becomes more established, and I am doing a 'housekeeping' job, sifting through what we definitely should move over and what is uncertain.
 I would like to ask you themers: Should we just move these presets over to an area in MoodleNet regardless of their version/age?
 Another alternative is, if people want to actually maintain them and keep them updated, we could add them to the Plugins directory.
 Or do you have other thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your opinions smaidīgs
