Moodle in English -> Lounge -> Sad News -> Re: Sad News

As far as I can tell, it was not publicised that it had gone beyond the discussion stage. In fact, whenever I asked about this, no one was able to tell me anything specific. This sort of thing is usually done by a committee, but apparently not this time.

It is hard for me to believe that this could just slip past me.

Interesting, no?

Moodle in English -> Lounge -> Sad News -> Re: Sad News

Well,

The head of IT was honest all along. He said that he did not want Moodle, and he made reference to most of the top ten myths. And he never budged.

Now, if a citizen of our county went to the Board, that would be fine. But i am not about to instigate what we elegantly call a "pissing contest" with my own IT department. That is a very bad idea in my district, especially for me. I not only need these guys, I like them and respect them, and work with them on a lot of projects. This decision was clearly wrong, but that does not mean I throw out my history with them.

The truth is that I am quite frustrated and saddened by this, but do not believe the End of Days is at hand. Whatever this new portal is will certainly be inferior to Moodle in many important ways - and Moodle will shine by comparison. And I and my students and my merry band of Moodlers will go about our business as usual.

And as I have done for a quarter of a century, I will continue to support and encourage my colleagues. And if they want to Moodle, I will be there for them, of course.

Now, if some bonehead decides to totally forbid the use of Moodle, I will sing a different song, of course.

In the meantime, who knows? Maybe someone here in Aiken will raise a little Hell, and I will certainly speak my truth in support of him or her.

I don't even know why I posted that announcement, really. I guess I wanted to tell the only people who would understand what a blunder this is.

Sigh... As Bartles and Jaymes used to say, Thanks for your support.

Ticked off in Aiken,
Art
