Sorry, Alice. I did not really explain. My fault entirely. blush

Thank you for your candor.

I was wondering how the members of this community would approach creating a mini-course out of this little story - keeping in mind Martin D.'s typical progression (http://docs.moodle.org/en/Pedagogy#Progression).

I thought that having concrete examples in front of us might be a little helpful.

If I approach this as a story of fate vs. free will, maybe I come up with something like this:

1. Putting up the handouts (Resources, SCORM): The teacher posts the text using the web page resource. (I'll bet you guys can come up with a better example than this.)

2. Having a passive forum: The teacher posts a forum in which each student replies once to the question, Was it the servant's fate to die or could the servant have escaped death by simply staying home? (I'll bet you guys can come up with a better example than this.)

3. Using Quizzes and Assignments (less management): The teacher posts an online writing assignment in which the student writes the servant's horoscope for the day. (I'll bet you guys can come up with a better example than this.)

4. Using the Wiki, Glossary and Database tools (interactive content): The teacher posts a database activity in which the students upload images of Death they have drwan and scanned. Students may comment on the images. (I'll bet you guys can come up with a better example than this.)

5. Using the Forum seriously and actively: In a forum, the students discuss how Barack Obama's life might have turned out differently, had he made different decisions. Or Michael Jackson, maybe. (I'll bet you guys can come up with a better example than this.)

6. Combining activities into sequences, where results feed later activities: I wonder what examples we can come up with for this one.

7. Think deeper about each activity, advanced features, unusual applications: I wonder what examples we can come up with for this one.

8. Using the Survey module to study and reflect on course activity: I wonder what examples we can come up with for this one.

9. Using peer-review modules like Workshop: I wonder what examples we can come up with for this one.

10. Conducting active research on oneself, sharing ideas in a community of peers: I wonder what examples we can come up with for this one.

Let's try the profile option, Marcy:

  1. Click on your name where it is a link.
  2. Select the Edit profile tab.
  3. Scroll down the the setting, When editing text. Choose Use HTML editor (if it is not already selected).

Let's see if that does the trick.

Hi, Marcy,

Not to worry:
  • It may be that you are looking at the text-page resource. That would not show the rich text editor.
  • Or you might have accidentally changed that setting in your profile.
  • Or you could be using a browser that does not give you that feature (like Google Chrome).

Check those out and let us know, OK?
