Hallo Ralf

Danke fuers Angebot! Die "komischen Effekte" habe ich im englischsprachigen Forum beschrieben:
"Uploading and linking files without the GUI editor"
https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=271062

Die Loesung interessiert mich aber nicht mehr. Ich habe festgestellt, dass ich eine andere Arbeitsweise ("Work flow") habe und entsprechend umgestiegen. Siehe:
"PDF and HTML from the same LaTeX source, a minimal example"
https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=276119
bzw. "PDF, HTML, Moodle und E-Book aus der selben LaTeX-Quelle"

Hi Frankle Lee 李智高

Could you provide a bit more detail?

You say:

> I have been using moodle from 1.7 and now I am using moodle 2.6.

Did you do the same kind of exams with the same load from the beginning? Since 1.9 was less resource hungry than 2.x, In your judgement, would your current server handle 1000 users on Moodle 1.9? I ask because the OP uses Moodle 1.9.

> It seems to me 1000 students is not so hard if you have a more powerful server with more ram, ...

Have you data of RAM usage during those peaks? All load graphs would be intersting.

> ... 600 student in 6 computer rooms and login and start the quiz at the same time in 3 to 5 minutes, ...

Do you mean, within a period of 3 to 5 minutes all 600 students have opened the first page of the exam?

Hi Varunendra

True, https://moodle.com/cloud/faq/ > "Why can’t I find an answer?" says:

If your question is about a problem with your MoodleCloud account or free web site, please contact support@moodlecloud.com.

Note that we do not have the resources to support you with Moodle itself. If you need that kind of help then:
- Visit the Moodle.org community to use the forums or read our documentation.
- Find a Moodle Partner to help you.

The question is, in which order? Did you try support@moodlecloud.com?

@helpers here

If this site/forum/thread provides support, was there any sort of a training programme? I mean, do you know how this cloud works?

Hi Albert

I am deeply sorry that you had this experience. As far as the answer to the OP goes, _you_ here means not the OP but, you, Albert, right?

P.S. The note about virtual servers is usefull. A 3 kW Moodle server for an unknown load will give us more historical summers like the one this year.
