Hello!

In the course of testing my new Guess It question type before releasing it I have found what I consider slightly misleading messages displayed to the user on a Quiz attempts screen. Here are my settings:

Question behaviour How questions behave Adaptive mode (no penalties)

Consider the following successive screenshots:

quiz_cat_01.jpg

quiz_cat_02.jpg

quiz_cat_03.jpg

quiz_cat_04.jpg

quiz_cat_05.jpg

At step 2 the student decides to click Finish the attempt without Checking their answer... The result is that in step 3 their answer is Not complete and in step 4 they have 1 Question without a response. But after Submit all and finish, in step 5 their answer is indeed validated and marked as Correct.

I suggest re-wording the messages as follows:

  • in Step 3: Status Not complete -> Response not checked
  • Step 4: Questions without a response -> Questions with un-checked response: 1

What do other Quiz users think?

@Henry,

You wrote: "H5P is very promising but last time I checked, it doesn't even pass a 'complete' flag to Moodle so enforce students reading all the content. And, there's not really any good authoring tools. Everything is online which is not usable for me. I need to be able to edit offline preferably with a graphical capability equivalent to PowerPoint."

I suggest you re-post this to the relevant Moodle H5P forum where it will be easier to answer it.😉
