Thanks for the xml question file, Jim. But now it seems you have changed your mind and are using MULTIPLE CHOICE instead of SHORTANSWER in your Cloze question. Does this mean you have finally solved your problem? Why are there 2 tables on your question page, one with no sub-questions in it and the other one with MC questions? What is the student expected to understand when confronted with those 2 tables? I'm puzzled.

Again I have no understanding of accounting, but can you explain how "0" differs from an empty blank???

Thanks for your prompt, illustrated answer, Jim. Does your screenshot represent the question or the answer? I know nothing of accounting and thus have no idea what should go or not go into the blanks.

Is that a screenshot of an actual Cloze question on your Moodle site? If so, could you export it and attach it to your answer here so we can examine it and hopefully provide a solution to your problem? And anyway, please give us the answers.
