Thanks for the clarification. Does the following describe more accurately what new "type" of moodle Questionnaire would meet your needs?

existing Questionnaire types:

  • respond many
  • respond once
  • respond daily
  • respond weekly
  • respond monthly

New type:

  • respond once + can edit many

Behavior of that new type: based on respond many type but,

a. each time respondent answers an already answered questionnaire, previous answers are displayed, so respondent can edit them

b. each time an already answered questionnaire is answered again (and answers have been edited), respondent's previous answers are automatically deleted

c. make the Save/Resume answers option still available for that new type?

d. as with all questionnaire types, questionnaire cannot be answered/edited after closing date (if specified).

Hi Loreta,

Thanks for your explanations. I am not sure the Questionnaire module is the best suited Moodle activity for the use you describe.

Anyway, one workaround in your situation would be to have your students - at the end of the year - open the Questionnaire in 2 windows side by side on their computer screen : in one window, they could view the answers they gave at the beginning of the year and in the other window they could type the answers they want to give now. Of course, that would mean re-typing or selecting even those responses which do not change...

"... is there any way of every student who selects AS levels for their results to come together without having to do 14 separate questionnaires."

Where does that "14 separate questionnaires" number come from? Is it the number of your courses within the AS Levels category? What do you call "levels" ? Are they courses within a certain category? Please try to use the Moodle terminology, otherwise it's difficult to understand.

It looks like you don't have the correct current Questionnaire for moodle 1.9 version installed. Can you please look at the contents of file /moodle/mod/questionnaire/questions.php and report if the first line of that file is:

<?php // $Id: questions.php,v 1.15.2.2 2008/06/20 13:36:45 mchurch Exp $

In answer to my question

"Did you recently upgrade your moodle site from 1.8 or lower to version 1.9?"

I do not understand your answer : "recently - many months ago". Can you be more explicit? What did you do recently and what else did you do many months ago?

sanjay:

But with in the quiz, I had defined three categories viz 'Easy' 'Medium' 'Hard'....

What do you mean exactly? How did you define 3 categories in your quiz? Do you mean you have created 3 categories in your questions bank and then you have selected questions from those 3 categories to make up your quiz? Or what else?
