I thought that students could not subscribe to Blackboard forums but had to eat my words.  There is a forum setting to allow students to subscribe that they can then opt into (I don't think we are using Vista).

One interesting thing about Blackboard, as compared to Moodle and lots of other forums, is its poor integration between identity and interaction.  Students can create an identity in Blackboard but it's quite hard work for others to see it (unlike the name click profile link in Moodle).  CLicking a name in Blackboard forums brings up an email.

I am not sure What is a 'corperate blackboard onslaught'? but I think this might have been an earlier manifestation http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=noone+ever+got+sacked+for+buying+IBM&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

I spoke to Dick by Skype (he's in Australia at the moment) and will meet up with him on his return to Manchester to see if I can give any help on configuration, etc.
The People's Uni have volunteers for content authoring and course delivery, but would appreciate some extra help with uploading content, adapting templates, etc. So if you want to give a few spare hours to help create open access materials that can help education on topics like Preventing Maternal Mortality see http://moodle.cawd.net/course/category.php?id=3, please contact him directly.
Also, does anyone know where I could look in Moodle.org for tips on combining offline (CD) content with a Moodle course?
Regarding your email bounce problem Adrian, I am wondering if it might be because you are responding to email reports of 'private messages' when recipients are off-line. There will probably be a no=reply clue. If you want to mail Lesli, try mailing the address from her profile.
