1. I've never used it, but I imagine it's as good a way as any. FWIW, I run the whole thing in Docker containers. I used to be very sniffy about Docker but it is ridiculously flexible once you've got your head around it.
2. Yes - one of those. Usually, if you mouse over the red bit, VSC code will tell you what it's unhappy about.
3. I assume you've read the developer docs? You basically only need a small number of files to get started. Well, really only the version file but you won't get much further without a language file and so on.
