Weird HTML block behaviour

Weird HTML block behaviour

Hi Everyone.

I'm having a very strange problem when adding new HTML blocks to the right column.

What's happening is if I add an HTML block, it appears as it should. However, if I try to move the block up or down the list, it disappears completly. Nowhere in my admin view I can I see this block.

...However. If I make the block invisible to users (eg hide it) and then move it, it behaves almost correctly. There are certain blocks that it will not go above, but if I move those blocks down, the HTML block goes in the correct position.

This has never happened before today.

I am using moodle 1.8. (2007021505)

Any suggestions ?

Many thanks,

Chris

I'm still having this issue, and I don't think anything has changed on the server to cause this.

Has anybody else had this problem before ? If so any suggestions on resolving it ? It's not show stopping, but it's obviously not right. I would like to get this fixed as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Chris

Hi Chris -

I don't have an answer, I'm afraid, but if you're using sticky blocks on your site it may be related to this issue in the tracker: http://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-11131

There's a patch attached to that discussion which may help in the short term.

Hi Antony,

Many thanks for your reply. This is indeed the problem I am getting.

Glad that has been narrowed down to Sticky blocks. I hadn't considered that as a cause.

I'll read through the tracker report and see if the patch fixes my problems.

I'm just glad it's not something weird with our server and is a known issue.

Many thanks,

Chris
