Creating my first module

Hello,

I'm finally going to be creating my first module. I've looked at this http://docs.moodle.org/en/Development:Modules but wanted to have a look at a simple module that's out there to see how it works. Can anyone think of one?

Also, i want my module to create a side block on the front page. I want this block to display links to profile pages such as
Would this be a good module to start on?

Mark - I'm glad to hear that you are interested in developing a module. Thank for your generosity of talent and time. I would design your module to do what you want it to do (in other words spec it out). Then go to the modules that have similar features and use those. I'm not sure if any module is simple as each as their own amount of complexity. Feel free to bounce particular ideas off of folks and to get feedback. Peace - Anthony
