I want to unenrol a student, I follow the instruction at http://docs.moodle.org/en/Students
"To unenrol a student from your course, you should repeat the above procedure but this time transferring the student from the left field to the right one (using the right-facing arrow). The student should move from the "Enrolled students" column to the "Potential students" column."
However there are thousands of users there, going through the entire list to find the user is time consuming, is there a better way to quickly unenrol a student?
Thanks
Thousands of users in course? Do you have by any change give your students global role Student (you shouldn't do that), or do you have on Administration► Users► Permissions► User policies set Default role for all users to Student? (Should be Authenticated user).

Thanks for the reply.
Honestly I know it sounds unbelievable, but yes, we do have thousands of students in the course, I don't believe we give students global role, but if you could tell me how we can check it, I will look again.
I don't have "Administration► Users► Permissions", probably it's because I'm still using version 1.5. I only have authentication, edit, add and upload four options.
BTW, do you know how I can easily find the student to unrol?
Thanks

Hi
Ou, sorry, i took for granted with this description you have 1.8. If you have 1.5, forget all i said
.
One idea crossed my mind. Do you list your user by firstname + lastname, or other way? This could help you a little. (This setting is in Administration > Configuration > Variables , section User look for fullnamedisplay ). Sorting by lastnames is usually better for searching users.
Or maybe look on mentioned page for section Maintenance, and try if longtimenosee: wont help you. If you want unenroll students that didnt show for long time...
(And maybe another little trick, if you focus on window with students in your course in Students link in Administration section, you can scroll by typing first characters of name of searched student).
Hope this helps a little.
