How to share Main Glossary with NO access to Shell?

How to share Main Glossary with NO access to Shell?

Hi,

I know that file sharing has been discussed in a few different forums, and I have searched through many.  The main answer that comes across is that you can do it through Shell.

My HOST provider doesn't allow access to Shell, which I find very annoying, and as I have NO knowledge of PHP (apart from blundering through), I was wondering if someone could help me?

I have about 20 Courses, all of which, I would like to have share the MAIN Glossary, having only one area to update.

I feel others would benefit from this type of code too.

If anyone could help, this would be most appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Penny

The glossary is not stored in files, so sharing files will not help in this case.

What you want is a site-wide glossary, much like the FAQ on this site.  Just create your Glossary on the front page and it can be available to all courses.

What if you want a site-partial glossary, in other words, a glossary that is available in more than one course, but not all? How would you do that?

Hi n,

I think that it isn't possible to create a site-partial glossay... Only replicating the glossary in every desired course or spliting your site will do it (and I think that they aren't optimal solutions isn't it?).

I know that this thread is a little dated but...

How about creating a single glossary in a course and using the URL from that glossary to produce a HTML block in the other courses where you wish the glossary to be accessable from.

Hello,

Is it correct, that we can't Share a Glossary site-wide behind the password and username in the coming Moodle 1.5, as well as in the present 1.44+?

Thanks,
