All,
I've been running a development copy of Moodle on my desktop PC for a while now, without any huge performance issues.
However, we've just gone down the live installation route, and Moodle is running much slower on better hardware. I am certain that it's down to the configuration/setup of the database layer (ODBTP uses 50% CPU), but I thought I'd run it past everyone here first.
Development Setup:
Moodle
P4 3.4Ghz
1GB RAM
IIS 5.0
PHP 5.2.3
ODBTP 1.1.4
Database
Xeon 3.2Ghz
4GB RAM
MSSQL2000
PHP
APC Cache
Live Setup:
Moodle
Dual Xeon 3.2Ghz
4GB RAM
Apache 2.2.2
PHP 5.1.4
ODBTP 1.1.4
Database
Xeon 3.2Ghz
4GB RAM
MSSQL2000
PHP
Zend Optimizer
I am sure it's a case of dropping Zend for APC, and also looking at FreeTDS instead of ODBTP. But if anyone has had similar issues, it would be greatly appreciated.
