I recently upgraded our moodle installation and the book module from 1.6 -> 1.7 -> 1.8. The upgrade of the tables in the db must have failed or i failed or something because the tables are left with the latin1_swedish_ci collation. The module is working ok but those tables not upgrading gives me an uneasy feeling about it. All tables relating to book are in latin1. How have you successfully upgraded with keeping the users data intact ?
