Yes, it's a shameless plug, but there is no ban on advertising Moodle courses, is there? wink

Have you always wanted to be able to decipher the secrets of ancient Egypt yourself by reading the hieroglyphs? Have you tried teaching yourself hieroglyph but gave up because you had no one to answer your questions and no other students with whom to learn? If so, Glyphdoctors' course in Middle Egyptian provides you with a complete introduction to Middle Egyptian grammar, enabling you to comprehend and translate literary, religious, historical and documentary texts in the language of ancient Egypt. The course is taught online and is self-paced so you can fit it into any schedule, anywhere. You will gain access to a virtual classroom where you will have the guidance of Egyptologist Nicole Hansen (who has a Ph.D. in Egyptology from the University of Chicago) and be able to interact with other students. Enroll now!

We also have another course beginning on February 1, Introduction to Egyptology. This course will give an insider's view of the field to those who dream of getting involved in the field or just want insights into ancient Egypt.

Gift certificates for these courses are available, just select the gift certificate option from the enrollment page. Of course, you might want to add this to your wish list and let someone else buy the gift certificate for you!

Not quite ready to enrol N, but I am tempted having just returned from Berlin where I spent an enjoyable morning looking at the Egyptian treasures there see http://www.museumsinsel-berlin.de/index.php?lang=en&page=3_3_1
Obviously Queen Nefertiti's head was beautiful but I was really bowled over by the timelessness of the Green head.

I am a Pergamon Museum man myself - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pergamon_Museum

In fact, in twenty years of chaperoning American <-> German exchange programs and student study groups, the only time I can remember being late to meet up with my students was when I simply lost track of time in the Pergamon Museum. I was a full hour late! embarrassed

Art, I love the Pergamon too. A fascinating comparison between Western and Eastern civilisation - I am looking at an image from the Ishtar Gate as I type this - wow!
