I have attached a snapshot of the results of the poll on Use of RSS feeds.
Though not many responded, a significant majority do want to use RSS and most of those are using the feed with a desktop aggregator . Currently this forum has an RSS feed, Lounge has guest access (though not auto-login) and is Open to Google. That seems to me to be fairly consistent. Obviously this set up precludes private conversations, and if there is a need for those, we could talk about it. Also if anyone has any links to a how to use RSS (particularly with Moodle) it might be useful to participants.
(BTW someone showed me this yesterday http://www.suprglu.com/).
I don't have access to the logs for social forum before it was hived off to a separate course but the logs for this week (comparing the same day of the week ) are approximately 1/3 of the first week after course started (they fell pretty rpaidly and have remianed fairly consistent). From a cursory analysis, the biggest fall is guest user access (Google and other guests), but the activity is generally lower. Obviously activity data is a bit misleading (doesn't count you RSSers) but I thought you might be interested to know the activity. It's difficult to generalise about postings as they are so variable but I'll look again at this in a month or so.
In summary, I propose no change - we keep RSS feed and Open to Google. Any comments or suggestions?
sounds good to me.
