An obscure bug was recently found (MDL-7138) which was causing some problems with overrides in one role being applied to other roles in certain combinations of role assignments.
The fix (checked into 1.7 and HEAD today, and running on moodle.org) required fairly substantial changes to the function at the very core of Roles. So far it all seems to be fine, but I would really like everyone to test Roles heavily and make sure things still work as expected.
