Hi Sun,
New Wiki is a version of DFwiki that copletelly replaces the ewiki thing, meaning is the basis for the future new wiki that, yes, is comming up with moodle 1.8 somewhere in 2007. IN dfwiki home you have able to download  nwiki and  dfwiki... when you install nwiki you really install somthing called  "wiki"  (so be carefull with moodle updates)
The next version of nwiki comming next week will treat the sinple brackets like this:
If brackets include  "://" the wiki parser will asume taht they refer (as mediawiki) to a external link, otherwise the brackets will be left alone in peace... ( if you need rigth away this version ( ask for it to jordi piguillem "pigi") if he can send you some advancement.
