Server Does Not Support JPEG

I was testing a Moodle site and about to upload a user photo when I got the message SERVER DOES NOT SUPPORT JPEG. From that moment on, the option to upload a user photo...vanished! Poof! Gone! Is this something I did in the settings, or a server issue? sad

If it's on Netmondo: I experienced that problem yesterday.  The Admin Configuration said GD was not installed...

Seems to be solved today.

GD2.x is installed on the server. I checked the PHP-info.

Perhaps you can let Moodle autodetect GD again? Visit your Admin Configuration Variables page and Save Changes.

If this doesn't work, try asking Kristin  wink.

Moodle does a auto detect each time your visit the configuration.

After I moved my moodle to another server I noticed that GD was also not installed. Happy for me that I'm root wink

Yes, GD is NOT installed, it seems.

BTW, what is GD, and what does it do? smile

It's a graphics library. Most of moodle depends only on having php installed but gd is a binary thing so there can be issues with some ISP's of having binaries installed. However GD seems so very, very useful I would look dubiously at an ISP who did not or would not make it available.

I have just received an email from sales@netmondo which looks like an automatic response  to the subject Using  Moodle  Re: Server does not support JPEG. I have never contacted netmondo (or indeed heard of them until I posted in this forum). Anyone know anything about this?

Marcus,

I didn't realize that I used our support email when I signed up to comment on posts.  I have removed it from the profile and this should not occur again.

Sorry for the confusion.

Kristin

Perhaps on your Netmondo server smile. But Moodle does not detect the GD install on the server I'm on. Support at Netmondo is working on that problem, as I understand it.

Just try using the php info link in  the administration section.

I bet you are on Netmondo server 36 and have GD 2.x enabled.

Actually, support told me server 11. They have re-congig'd PHP (so they say) and now CD 2.x is detected.

"(so they say) "

Yes, we did recompile or you wouldn't have not seen it before and now see it.

We have been recompiling servers 2-34 since last night.  A recompile of php options 1, 5, and then 6 can take upto 70 minutes for each server.  We have now designated a default setup to accomidate our moodle users.  All new servers will be setup as per this default.

Sorry for any delay and the time it took to complete everything.  If you are on servers 37 and up and have any problems, please contact us so we can get this sorted more quickly.

Thanks,

Kristin
