I've had this problem with my home Xtra broadband connection since the moodle.org changeover to 1.6 in June. It's weird because I can get moodle.org from my home location by switching to dial-up, but not through broadband. Hours on the phone to Xtra support could not solve the problem. I've attached the traceroute I did then - did another one tonight and it's just the same - lots of stars!
My theory is that theplanet.com is blocking the specific range of IPs that Xtra allocates to broadband (probably because some
spammer has used an IP in that range in the past ?) - current IP is 219.89.xx.xx - have tried resetting this but doesn't help.
I found that using other proxy servers helps (there's heaps at
http://www.samair.ru/ ) but I've now set up a new location for my PowerBook that uses the Xtra proxy - proxy.xtra.co.nz:8080 - and this has worked OK for the last week or so ..... so I can post here
