Congratulations Martin on the successful upgrade!
Thanks, Tim!
The Moodle upgrade itself was actually pretty painless ... the main problem was that just before making it public on Sunday the first server developed some kind of hardware problem causing data corruption. They replaced nearly everything trying to track it down (RAM, RAID etc) over three days and eventually I just get a completely new machine to set up from scratch.
Let's hope this one fares better!

The new server is certainly a lot faster. Reading these forums is now a much pleasanter experience.

Mail is very slow. I thought I'd give sendmail a try (it was default under RHEL4 and I assumed that was for a good reason) but it's shocking.
I'll switch to postfix I think.

Wow, postfix is burning up those crons now
