Limiting Editing Access

Limiting Editing Access

Hi, we have courses that have several instructors.  For example, we have a course with 9 instructors.  It is one course because we want the students to be able to access all of the information.

There is one instructor who is in charge of the course.

The other 8 instructors have learning units with their names on it.

Issue:

Is there a way to restrict editing rights to the learning topics.

In other words, Instructor A has a Topic.  Instructor B has a topic.  Instructors A and B should be able to add any learning resource they want (not just a folder, which I can customize access to) to their own topic, but not be able to edit another instructors topic.

Maybe it's connected to roles?  Not sure ...

Any suggestions as to how to achieve this?

Thank you.

Hi Stephanie,

Just confirming that it's not possible to restrict editing rights to particular topics / sections of a course.

You could instead give each instructor their own course, and have all 9 instructors automatically enrolled in all the courses using Course meta link enrolment.

Helen,

Thank you for confirming what I thought was the case.  Sadly, Metalink is only for enrollments.  The students would see several courses.

Thanks.
