Moodle Strangely Slow at Times

Moodle Strangely Slow at Times

Hello,

I'm using Moodle through the University of Divinity in Australia (the LMS is nicknamed ARK).

My version of Moodle regularly, but only sometimes, operates very slowly or hangs and won't load at all. This is only happening to me - no other colleagues at the University appears to be experiencing this. For instance, sometimes I will delete an item on a page, and it will happen instantaneously. Other times, it will take 2-3 minutes to complete the operation. Other times Moodle will hang and spin and never complete the operation. (This happens with almost all of the menu commands available). Of course, when I'm doing a lot of building in Moodle, these delays add up.

I occasionally receive this error message: Script error for "media_videojs/video-lazy" http://requirejs.org/docs/errors.html#scripterror (but only occasionally)

No other programs or websites run slowly, and my laptop resources are fine. I've tried both Bing and Chrome - same problem with both. I've also tried clearing all my browsing data. It seems to perhaps help for a short time, but soon we're back to the same slowness.

I have stumped our IT folks here (good as they are!). Would anyone on this forum have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Bart

Moodle version?

Your role in the site?  Admin/teacher/???

In one course or all courses?

Is there video in these courses?  Are you the only person teaching those courses?  Do you use plugins that other people don't use?  Does your site have blocks on youtube for example?   Have you tried turning debugging on?

So much more information needed...

Sorry . . . here's some further info

Moodle version 4.1.
I'm a teacher in the site.
This is happening in all my courses/units.
There are videos in the courses. Some have several, but others only a few. Same problem across both. It is not particularly associated with the videos. The delays/hangs happen with almost all menu commands and links.
I am the only person teaching these courses.
No extra plugins and no site blocks on YouTube.
I don't have admin access, so I don't think I could turn the debugging on. (If I can, I don't know where it is.)

Thanks for the help.

Bart
