Adding a search field within a course

Adding a search field within a course

Hello! I have a 'revision' course that is essentially a library of +120 short revision videos covering various accounting topics and MCQ questions.

I would like to add a search field so students can search WITHIN the course, e.g. a student searches "Target Costing" and they get the activities related to this topic. I found posts on a "Global Search" but this isn't what I need.

Can anyone share a way to add such a search field? Or, if I tag all my activities, can I achieve the same thing with some kind of 'search tags' option?

Thank you!

A pragmatic approach would be to use tagged activities and the Tags block, because these are features generally available in Moodle. Besides that, I know of just a few bespoke course formats that allow activity and section tagging and filtering.

If it's just videos that need to be searched/filtered, you could consider creating a Database activity. The advanced search form would allow you to search all the entries in the activities based on criteria set by the student. https://docs.moodle.org/404/en/Database_activity
