MoodleSession cookie on mobile phones

MoodleSession cookie on mobile phones

Hello,

I have a question about the MoodleSession cookie on iPhone (iOS 17; I haven't tested it on Android).

After I access Moodle site on PC (Windows 11, chromium-based browser) and log in, then close the web browser, shut down the PC and turn it back on, I can still access Moodle site without the need to log in again (as long as the sessiontimeout is not reached). I guess I don't need to log in again because of the MoodleSession cookie.

On iPhone (iOS 17, Safari and Chromium-based browsers), after I login and close ("swipe-up") the browser, I am required to log in again. If I don't "swipe-up" the browser app but just switch to another app, I stay logged in.

Is it possible to keep users logged in even after they "swipe-up" the browser on iPhone without requiring them to change some cookie settings in the browser app or use the Moodle App? Maybe something like this?

Thank you,
Frane

Hi Ankey,

maybe this is not the most appropriate forum as your query is about Moodle LMS using mobile device browsers but this forum is mostly about the Moodle mobile application.
I'd suggest posting in the General Developer forum or submitting a issue into tracker.moodle.org as this seems to be quite a technical issue
