Another Moodle data leak?

Another Moodle data leak?

After suffering through MDL-71909 filling up our drive two months ago I migrated our Moodle instance to a new machine with a more space and installed Moodle 4.3.3.

The drive is full again. I thought this bug was fixed! Is anyone else experiencing unexplained data growth still?

I don't even know how to begin to address this issue now.

Do you have auto backups turned on?

Did any of your courses have a 'forever' assignment for all users in that course and a teacher/sys admin decided that was too much and deleted?   If so, server might still be trying to delete that one item - recyclebin settings.

Kinda hard to tell ... but do explore what's in moodledata/temp/backups/

Have you watched process list for a while to see what kicks in?

Until then your Moodle was older than 4.1.6 or 4.2.3? Because since then the bug was fixed.

So the question is whether Moodle 4.3.3 has a "data leak" too. Can't remember anybody reporting one. So you need to analyze your Moodle. It is not easy to differentiate between whether there is a bug or Moodle behaves the way it is designed to work. Ken has provided some hints on where to start.

Do you have your moodle data directory on a separte volume to your main installion? have you checked the location and rotation of your logs? which volume is actually filling up? more details would be really helpful
