First, what do you want to achieve exactly with you theme?
And why creating a child theme of Boost from scratch, better than use an existing theme?
This would certainly be easier, and avoid investing lot of time / development.
Depending on what you want to achieve exactly, it's perhaps better to use an existing theme, and only make needed changes.
Perhaps by a child theme, or pull request.
