Hi all,

We're using the Ouriginal services integrated with the urkund plugin

I've detected just now that the repository, under the Dan Marsden github user, is just readonly from January 2023 and linking to https://www.ouriginal.com/.

The points I would like to remark are:
  1. On the official site, there is no news about a repository for this plugin nor any way of asking/contributing.
  2. The Moodle plugins directory for this plugin has outdated details (all of that related to the github).
We are willing to ask for new configuration possibilities, and I thought about asking opinion to Dan. Now, I do not know how to proceed.

Anyone has contacted or knows how to contribute or ask for new functionalities?

By the way, thanks Dan for the big efforts on keeping this plugin.

Thanks,

Jordi

Now that Turnitin own ouriginal they have no longer been interested in funding my time to maintain the plugin. They did have some internal developers who expressed an interest in me transferring the github repo to them but they haven't been able to figure it out so I flagged my repo as archived to better reflect the state and transferred ownership of the plugins db entry to a Turnitin developer from their ouriginal team.

Turnitin have previously purchased other competitors in the past and shut their services down, migrating clients to their main product. I've also heard from some ouriginal clients that sales teams have been in touch looking to migrate them to use Turnitin.

I would advise you contact your ouriginal support contact and ask them what their plans are for ongoing Moodle support. It may not be worth you investing further in if they plan to shut down. I have no visibility or knowledge that suggests they will shut it down or if they have plans for ongoing development, but as you have a contract with them you will likely be able to get an official answer. I'd be interested to hear what you find out!

Thanks a lot Dan, for your details.

We will be contacting to our provider as you suggested. I think that, meanwhile, we should be building the changes we need locally.

Thanks,

Jordi
