Marking questions in a book for Moodle 3.11

I've created a book that has videos and then a short quiz after each video.  For multiple choice and true/false questions the students see feedback immediately. I've also included a couple of short answer questions but the instructor doesn't see that those need grading. (Grading would simply indicate that the instructor saw the answer and made a comment, with a grade of 1).

Does anyone know how I could enable grading and allow students to see the feedback?  Is this a setting I need to enable?

If you created a quiz using the standard, core Moodle quiz activity the settings are for feedback and grading would be in the quiz activity or course gradebook.
If you created questions inside of the Book activity, you would need to provide more details how you set up the questions.

Thank you for your quick reply Shirley.
I created the quiz inside the book setup. The book shows a video and then asks a question. A couple of those are essays questions that require marking.
With this setup a student who has done the questions should have two essay questions to be marked but the "Grade Essays" section shows the student name but nothing to be marked.
Does this help explain how I created it?

What you are trying to achieve just using the Book Activity will not work.
You need to use the Quiz Activity https://docs.moodle.org/311/en/Quiz_activity for questions interactions with a student or use the Lesson Activity https://docs.moodle.org/311/en/Lesson_activity which allows for training context and then a graded activity.

I will explore the lessons.

I used only the book because it appeared to have the ability to put questions directly into the book. The multiple choice questions are marked and the student sees those marks. It is just the Essay (typed answer) questions that don't return any opportunity for the instructor to see them for marking.

How are you adding the questions? Are you using the embedquestions plugin or just linking in the Book directly to questions in the Question bank?

Thanks for thinking about this!
This is the first time I've tried putting questions into a book. I am not using the Question Bank.
Within the book there is the ability to add a question and I chose to add a question page and typed in the question.
but the essay questions doesn't show up when I click on Grade essays.

Are you quite sure this is a Book and not a Lesson activity? Your screenshot looks like the Lesson activity.

Here is a 3.11 video of the Lesson activity (not for 4+) Does yours look like the video below/ If yes then here is some documentation on grading essays in Moodle 3.11 https://docs.moodle.org/311/en/Using_Lesson#Grading_lesson_essays

Are you completely sure that "business student" has the normal student role in the course and lesson and has submitted an essay?

Oh Mary,
Oh dear......Thank you....it is a lesson!

The business student is a normal student role.
Now that I know what I am really working with I'll review it from the lesson point of view.

I just logged on as the business student and did the lesson again.
I do see the essay questions on the marking screen and can grade them.
I also see all of the student's that did the lesson but do not see anything to mark for them so I still have a quandary.

In the Reports section the student attempts show as "not completed" so maybe it's the instructions for the students that is faulty.
I'll review those settings.
