Same theme with different settings for different courses or categories

Hello!

I´m Bárbara from Portugal and I use Moodle as LMS for professional training in different organisations, so I'm looking for different themes that I can apply to each organisation.

Not all the themes that I've installed work for the purpose but theme Adaptable is very good, flexible and highly "adaptable" 🙃

My question is: how can I use Adaptable in different courses or categories but with specific settings for each one? Is it possible?

Thank you so much!!!

This is not directly related to any theme but to Moodle and how it applies this feature. You are not able to have different settings per category.
The only way was to clone a given theme and change its name. You would probably need a developer for that.
But perhaps anyone else knows a better way.

Hi there.

The new Moodle theme 'Boost Union' can do this 🦸‍♂️

Once you've installed the 'Boost Union' theme, you can select 'Flavours' from those theme settings.

This will allow you to create a different look and feel for a specific Cohort or Group of users. You can also specify if you would like the new flavour and it's settings apply to specific courses.

I'm new to all this, but I'm learning fast and the Moodle develper team have made is very intuitive and easy to setup.

Try it if it's what you're after and let me know what you think.

Alternatively... Hugo is right. You can create a chiid theme by copying the base line directory and files from your chosen parent theme and rename it (rename all files etc where required). I've done this too with a bit of effort, but like he says, you might need a developer to help you.

Good luck and all the best, Rod.

Great info Rod!
Let me add this morning, I was lucky to attend a Boost Union presentation on the Moodle Users Association Town Hall event and I must say the path the theme is taking is brilliant!
